Create Initiative
Hands-on learning that helps young people turn creativity into real skills through digital media, emerging technology, and project-based experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and what comes next.
Growing as Creators Starting with Curiosity
The Create Initiative is CETAT’s hands-on youth program, launched in 2016 and delivered through summer and after-school programming. The program introduces students to digital media, emerging technologies, and creative problem-solving through applied, project-based learning. Participants explore web design, digital photography, videography, music production, game design, drone technology, 3D printing, and the responsible use of AI tools to enhance their work using industry-relevant technologies.
Throughout the program, students develop a digital portfolio that showcases their skills and accomplishments for college applications, internships, and early career opportunities. The Create Initiative also integrates professional development and coaching focused on communication, collaboration, and leadership. Offered in both in-person and virtual formats, the program provides flexible, high-impact learning experiences that prepare youth to succeed in a technology-driven world.
The Create Initiative is designed to meet students where they are and help them build confidence through real-world application. By working on meaningful projects and receiving consistent mentorship, participants strengthen their problem-solving skills, gain clarity around career pathways, and leave the program with practical experience they can use immediately in academic and professional settings.
Course
Students build experience that goes beyond the classroom. They leave with a portfolio that reflects their progress, stronger communication and leadership skills, and a clearer understanding of how their interests can turn into career pathways. The Create Initiative empowers youth to move forward with direction, experience, and the confidence to take their next step.
